TruthFinder is one of the most popular and comprehensive people search and background check platforms in the United States. It is owned by PeopleConnect and aggregates millions of public records to display your name, current and previous addresses, phone numbers, email addresses, criminal records, mugshots, arrest records, sex offender status, court records, property records, and social media account links. TruthFinder is frequently used for tenant screening, employee vetting, and personal investigations. Its deep database and detailed reports make it particularly invasive — exposing sensitive criminal history, address history, and personal connections to anyone willing to pay for a subscription.
How to Remove Yourself
Step 1: Go to the PeopleConnect Suppression Center
Navigate to https://suppression.peopleconnect.us/ — the unified suppression tool for all PeopleConnect brands including TruthFinder, Instant Checkmate, Intelius, and USSearch. Note: You can also use the direct URL with brand parameter: https://suppression.peopleconnect.us/?brand=TruthFinder
Step 2: Begin the Suppression Request
Click "Begin Suppression Request" and enter your email address. TruthFinder/PeopleConnect will send a verification email to confirm your identity.
Step 3: Verify Your Email
Open the email and click the verification link. This confirms you are who you say you are and authorizes the suppression process.
Step 4: Complete Identity Verification
After email verification, provide your full legal name and date of birth to identify your specific record. Select your record from the search results.
Step 5: Confirm Suppression
Confirm the suppression request. Your public background report will be immediately hidden from name searches across all PeopleConnect sites. Full suppression across all systems takes 24–48 hours.
Important Notes
- Suppression only hides data from NAME searches — phone number, address, and email searches may still surface some data.
- One suppression covers all PeopleConnect brands — TruthFinder, Instant Checkmate, Intelius, and USSearch simultaneously.
- Data repopulates every 90 days — PeopleConnect continuously re-collects from public sources. Re-submit quarterly.
- No ID upload required — name + DOB is sufficient.
- Judges/Law Enforcement must email privacy@peopleconnect.us for special protections.
- This is free — TruthFinder charges for background reports but the suppression process is completely free.
