How to Remove Yourself from TransUnion

Data collected: name, address, phone, email, credit attributes (marketing-derived), demographic data, marketing response data. Last verified: Mon Mar 30 2026 19:00:00 GMT-0500 (Central Daylight Time)

What TransUnion Collects

TransUnion is one of the three major US credit bureaus, but the TransUnion marketing lists opt-out specifically targets TransUnion's consumer marketing data products β€” not your credit report. TransUnion's marketing division collects and sells consumer data including your name, address, phone, email, derived credit attributes, demographic data, and marketing response behavior. This data is used by marketers for direct mail, telemarketing, and prescreened credit offers. This opt-out does NOT affect your credit report, credit score, or credit file β€” those are governed by the FCRA, not privacy law.

How to Remove Yourself

Step 1: Go to the TransUnion Consumer Privacy Hub

Navigate to https://www.transunion.com/consumer-privacy β€” TransUnion's central consumer privacy page.

Step 2: Submit a CCPA Opt-Out

Go to https://service.transunion.com/dss/ccpa_optout.page β€” the direct CCPA opt-out form. You have several options:

Option A β€” Create a TransUnion Service Center Account Create an account at service.transunion.com for full online processing with email confirmation. This allows you to track your request status.

Option B β€” One-Time Form Submission Submit a one-time form at service.transunion.com/dss/ccpa_optout.page without creating an account. This is faster but provides limited status tracking.

Option C β€” Guest Submission Use the guest form at service.transunion.com/dss/orderStep1_form.page?isGuest=true β€” TransUnion will respond by mail.

Step 3: Provide Your Information

Fill out the form with your name, email, phone, and address for identity verification.

Step 4: Opt Out of Prescreened Credit Offers

For prescreened credit/insurance offers, also visit optoutprescreen.com or call 1-888-567-8688 for a 5-year or permanent opt-out.

Alternative: Call TransUnion

Call 866-310-8783 (Mon–Fri 8am–9pm ET, Sat–Sun 8am–5pm ET).

Important Notes

  • This opt-out does NOT affect your credit report β€” credit report data is governed by FCRA, not privacy law.
  • TransUnion requires identity verification before processing requests.
  • Data does NOT repopulate once properly removed from TransUnion marketing lists.
  • Prescreened offer opt-out (optoutprescreen.com) is separate and specifically stops credit/insurance pre-approval mailings.
  • Create a Service Center account for the most reliable tracking of your request status.
  • Phone support is available extended hours including weekends.
