What NumberGuru Collects
NumberGuru is a reverse phone lookup and people search service owned by BeenVerified/PeopleConnect. It displays information associated with phone numbers including the owner's name, address, carrier information, phone type (mobile or landline), and spam flagging history. NumberGuru is designed to help users identify unknown callers, look up phone numbers, and find personal information tied to phone numbers. It aggregates data from public records and BeenVerified's proprietary databases. Since it is owned by PeopleConnect, opting out through BeenVerified's opt-out portal simultaneously removes your data from NumberGuru.
How to Remove Yourself
Step 1: Go to the BeenVerified Opt-Out Portal
Navigate to https://www.beenverified.com/app/optout/search — the unified opt-out portal for both NumberGuru and BeenVerified. Since NumberGuru is owned by PeopleConnect/BeenVerified, this single opt-out covers both sites.
Step 2: Search for Your Record
Enter your first name, last name, and state in the search form. Locate your specific record from the search results.
Step 3: Click the Opt-Out Link
On your record page, click the opt-out or removal link. You will be asked to provide your email address.
Step 4: Verify via Email
NumberGuru/BeenVerified will send a verification email to the address you provided. Click the verification link in the email to confirm your identity and authorize the removal.
Step 5: Confirm Removal
After clicking the email link, your record will be removed. The FAQ confirms: "After you verify, we will send you an email confirming the record has been opted out." Removal takes effect within 24 hours of confirmation.
Important Notes
- One opt-out covers both NumberGuru and BeenVerified — use the BeenVerified portal.
- No CAPTCHA or ID upload required — simple email verification is sufficient.
- Data repopulates every 90 days — PeopleConnect continuously re-collects from public sources. Re-submit quarterly.
- Email support: support@numberguru.com for follow-up requests.
- This is a free process — NumberGuru/BeenVerified charges for background reports but the opt-out is free.
- Consider also removing your data from TruthFinder, Instant Checkmate, Intelius, and USSearch since all are PeopleConnect brands sharing the same suppression center.
