What Instant Checkmate Collects
Instant Checkmate is a people search and background check platform owned by PeopleConnect. It aggregates public records to display your name, current and previous addresses, phone numbers, email addresses, criminal records, mugshots, arrest records, sex offender status, court records, and property information. Instant Checkmate is frequently used for tenant screening, employee vetting, and personal stalking — it exposes sensitive personal information to anyone willing to pay for a background report. Like its sibling brands TruthFinder and Intelius, Instant Checkmate draws from a massive database of public records compiled by PeopleConnect.
How to Remove Yourself
Step 1: Go to the PeopleConnect Suppression Center
Navigate to https://suppression.peopleconnect.us/?brand=InstantCheckmate — the unified suppression tool for all PeopleConnect brands including Instant Checkmate, TruthFinder, Intelius, and USSearch.
Step 2: Begin the Suppression Process
Click "Begin Suppression Request" or the equivalent start button. Enter your email address — you will receive a verification email to confirm your identity.
Step 3: Verify Your Email
Check your inbox for an email from PeopleConnect/Instant Checkmate. Click the verification link to proceed with your suppression request.
Step 4: Complete Identity Verification
Provide your full legal name and date of birth to confirm your identity. You may also need to provide a phone number or email for additional verification.
Step 5: Confirm Suppression
Select your record from the search results and confirm the suppression request. Your public background report will be hidden from name searches across ALL PeopleConnect sites simultaneously.
Important Notes
- Two separate processes exist: (1) User account data deletion — for people who have paid for Instant Checkmate subscriptions; (2) Public data suppression — for non-customers whose public records appear in searches. Use the suppression tool for public data.
- Deleting your user account does NOT suppress public data — you must use the suppression tool separately.
- Suppression covers all PeopleConnect brands (TruthFinder, Intelius, USSearch) simultaneously from a single request.
- Data repopulates because PeopleConnect continuously re-collects from public sources. Re-submit every 6–12 months.
- Judges/Law Enforcement: Email privacy@peopleconnect.us for special protections.
- No ID upload required — name + DOB is sufficient for suppression.
