What Epsilon Collects
Epsilon is a large marketing technology company owned by Publicis Groupe that specializes in email marketing, loyalty programs, and customer data platforms. They collect your name, email, postal address, phone number, purchase history, loyalty program activity, demographic attributes, and online browsing behavior. Epsilon's CORE business is helping marketers send targeted emails and postal campaigns — they hold some of the most detailed consumer purchase and loyalty data in the advertising industry. Their ABEC (Epsilon's data brokerage subsidiary) holds consumer profiles used by thousands of brands.
How to Remove Yourself
Step 1: Determine Which Opt-Out You Need
Epsilon has TWO separate opt-out mechanisms for different types of data:
Option A — IBA (Interest-Based Advertising) Opt-Out: Go to https://legal.epsilon.com/optout to opt out of interest-based advertising. This is cookie-based, immediate, but must be repeated per browser and device — clearing cookies resets it.
Option B — DSR (Data Subject Request) for Marketing Lists: Go to https://legal.epsilon.com/dsr to submit a broader Data Subject Request for deletion or opting out of Epsilon's marketing data lists. This form requires country selection and personal information.
Step 2: Complete the Appropriate Form
For the DSR form, provide your name, email, phone, and address. Select your country and the type of request (deletion or opt-out of marketing lists).
Step 3: Alternative — Call Epsilon
US consumers can also call +1-866-267-3861 to submit a data subject request by phone.
Important Notes
- IBA opt-out is cookie/device-specific — you must repeat it for every browser and device you use. Clearing cookies resets the opt-out.
- DSR opt-out is more comprehensive but takes longer and requires identity verification.
- The IBA opt-out only stops targeted advertising — it does not remove you from Epsilon's marketing email lists.
- Epsilon is owned by Publicis Groupe — the opt-out may affect data sharing across multiple Publicis brands.
- Data may repopulate on marketing lists even after opt-out, as Epsilon continuously collects new consumer data from loyalty programs and marketing partners.
- The IBA opt-out does not prevent Epsilon from holding your data — it only stops the advertising use of that data.
